Elaine Chiu was born in Hong Kong in 1996.
She lives and works in Hong Kong.
Biography
Elaine Chiu explores memories and identities of urban environments through paintings, on-location sketching and performances. She is enlisted in Forbes 30 under 30 Asia in 2023. Elaine attained her bachelor's degree in art history and sociology at the University of Hong Kong in 2018, receiving the Talent Development Scholarship (2015) and Out Reaching Award (2016) from the Hong Kong SAR Government Scholarship Fund.
Her recent solo exhibitions include “Before Memories Expire” and “The Memory Library” at JPS Gallery in Hong Kong (2021); Recent artist talks include Phillips Auctions (2023); Asia Society at Art Central (2022), Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (New York) (2020), and The University of Hong Kong (2021). Permanent collections include The University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG), HKU; K11 Art Foundation and Société Générale Hong Kong. Artist projects include Vivid Sydney (2018), Hong Kong GeoPark (2019), and HKU Heritage Sights and Sites (2022). Her first publication "Before Memories Expire -- Hong Kong Cityscape's Aesthetics and Impression" is published by Chung Hwa Publishing in 2023.
